HACCP Level 1 - 2 Intense Training 16th of October 2020

What is HACCP?

The word HACCP (Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Point) confuses many people but, simply put, it refers to procedures you must put in place to ensure the food you produce is safe. These procedures make up your food safety management system based on the principles of HACCP.

Who should take this course?

Anyone working in a Food environment should be HACCP trained from retail to industry. Food Handlers and their employers have a legal duty to manage Food Safety. These obligations are set out by a number of EU and Irish Laws. Failing to follow food safety standards can cause food to become contaminated with potentially fatal consequences.

This course will start by covering some of the key terms you will need to understand before moving on to identifying critical control points and analysing some of the key hazards. It will show you how to determine control points and how to avoid cross-contamination in the food chain. It will also cover some of the control measures that can be taken along with how to address a problem if a critical limit is breached.

Towards the end of the course all this will be brought together by taking you step by step through the implementation of HACCP and see how the 7 principles of HACCP are integrated into the whole process.

Courses can be run in in our Covid-19 Safe Dundalk Local traingin centre, on-site and on-line

All staff engaged in manual handling activities during their working day.

Regulation 68 of the 2007 regulations define ‘manual handling of loads’ as:

‘any transporting or supporting of a load by one or more employees and includes lifting, putting down, pushing, pulling, carrying, or moving a load, which, by reason of its characteristics or of unfavourable ergonomic conditions, involves risk, particularly of back injury, to employees.’

Avoid where possible

Regulation 69(a) of the 2007 Regulations states that, in order to avoid the need for manual handling of loads by employees, every employer must:

  • Take appropriate organisational measures, or

  • Use the appropriate means, in particular, mechanical equipment

Course Details

To comply with current Health and Safety legislation, staff must be given training in safe manual handling techniques. This training will show your staff how to carry out manual handling tasks correctly and therefore avoid back injuries. By training your staff how to conduct manual handling safely you are complying with your legal requirements. Back injuries caused by incorrect manual handling techniques are one of the most frequent causes of workers compensation claims. This is not an instructors’ course.
