Dear Owner / Manager
Safety Statements have been required by law of all companies since the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act, 1989 and more recently the new Safety, Health and Welfare Act, 2005. The safety statement is effectively a company’s documented Health & Safety Management programmed for ensuring the safety, health and welfare of all its employees whilst at work. The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) enforces these regulations, and has recently penalised and fined hundreds of companies throughout Ireland for not being health and safety compliant.
If you choose to engage Simply Safety to prepare your safety statement, we will provide a service that involves one of our consultants visiting your premises to review your operations. The site visit ensures that our consultant accounts for all the potential hazards and risks that your employees may be exposed to during the course of their duties and that all appropriate risk assessments are developed.
Simply Safety's approach to risk assessments is such that the risk assessments provided can be referred to by your employees when conducting the work. Clarity is provided by the use of plain English and a simple 4 x 4 risk assessment matrix. Our philosophy is that the risk assessments are primarily for the employee and as such should be targeted towards them fully understanding the process.
Simply Safety’s consultant will then prepare a company specific, fully compliant, comprehensive Safety Statement to meet your requirements. We will also provide a copy for the insurance company and the employees.
Under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations, 2007, employers are required to analyse VDU workstations and work environments to assess the risks to the health and safety of the users and to reduce these risks to the lowest practicable level. Employers are required to pay particular attention to eyesight, physical difficulties and mental stress and carry out appropriate steps to control any risk identified.
Simply Safety provides a VDU assessment service to employers whereby a consultant visits the employer’s premises and carries out an assessment. The employers VDU workstations are ergonomically assessed and recommendations are made to enable the employer and employee to adhere to the VDU regulations.
